I met Liz & Kevin while I was already in Yakima, Washington for a Fontaine Estates Winery wedding, that Liz was helping coordinate! We had been talking in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and decided to do their Yakima engagement session while Ben and I were out on the west coast for the wedding. We’re based out of Washington D.C., so we’re always trying to time out of town engagement sessions when we’re already in town, if possible! The wedding was beautiful (you can read all about Alex & Jace’s summer wedding here) and just days later, I met Liz and Kevin at a private orchard for their engagement session. Yakima wedding photographers are spoiled with these mountain views, I absolutely love when we get to shoot against these mountain backdrops!
Their proposal story is equal parts sweet and hilarious! Kevin had everything perfectly planned – he would take Liz to lunch in Yakima, while her sisters would set everything up at Liz’s house for the proposal after. The ring had been hidden in her bathroom. In unfortunate timing, Liz had JUST had her home security cameras fixed the day before, so when she got notified during lunch that people were in her house, she of course checked to see what was going on. Seeing that both of her sisters were in her house, apparently having fun without her, she called them, asking what was going on! They gave vague answers (I can only imagine, how do you explain yourself out of this one??) and Kevin quickly carried on conversation as if nothing was going on. After lunch, they finally came back to her house which had been transformed with candles and florals, and it was there that Kevin knelt down on one knee! They got to celebrate with her sisters who were already there, finally able to explain why they were sneaking around the house, and I can imagine this will be a story told for years!
They are tying the knot at the American Homestead in Yakima next month, and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate them so soon! One thing that really stood out to Ben and I when we were there earlier this summer was how incredible their church community is – for Alex & Jace’s wedding, everyone stepped in and helped however they could, and we’ve already heard all the ways they’ll be doing the same for Liz and Kevin. It’s not so easy to find that in D.C. and it has been so beautiful and inspiring to see! We’re extra excited to be back!
Liz and Kevin, I can hardly believe we’re only a month away now!! Ah! It’s going to be beautiful, I can’t wait to celebrate you & the story God is writing for you guys!
