I am SO excited to share this beautiful Montego Bay wedding! Angela & Nik chose to tie the knot in style, opting for a Jamaica destination wedding at the Royalton Blue Waters, Montego Bay. We had a blast being a part of it! Not only did we get to shoot at one of the best Montego Bay wedding venues in the area, but we got to experience staying at an all inclusive resort for the first time! Safe to say we’ll surely be back!
For destination weddings, we always come two days early, just to avoid flight issues and to scope it out before the wedding day. In this case, we also scheduled Nik and Angela’s engagement session during that time, and it was so fun to hang out and explore the resort before the wedding! In true Nik and Angela fashion, wanting everyone to feel welcome, they brought us a gift when we met for their session, and we quickly learned that that’s just who they are – thoughtful, and selfless, even on their wedding weekend, just wanting everyone to have fun. Not only did they welcome us like friends, but their entire families did too – sharing bug spray, making sure we’d eaten, and continually making sure we were taken care of. It was so incredibly kind, and made the day that much more fun for us!
The week of the wedding, it was calling for thunderstorms the entire weekend, and we were prepping for what would likely be a very rainy day. It’s doable, it just takes extra planning! The morning of the wedding, it did rain for a few hours, but JUST as we went outside for their first look, it began to clear. God was holding back those clouds because the rain gave way to the most beautiful, breezy afternoon, free of rain, and we ended up taking all of their portraits outside at the ocean front! Such a gift for a Jamaica wedding photographer, it turned out to be such a gorgeous day!
The day was full of sweet moments (including a tearful first look with Angela and her father, and Carley, the flower girl, helping her get ready) to hilarious moments (like Carley begrudgingly making her way down the aisle with full sass, stealing hearts) and it was such a joy to be a part of it.
Nik and Angela deserve a special shoutout for trusting one of our more creative location ideas – the day before the wedding, we scoped out the entire resort and discovered a stunning little cove just off the coast of the beach. BUT, to get there, you have to walk along a sandy path that can be covered in a few inches of water during certain times of day. I never want couples to do something they aren’t comfortable with, but these two were down for anything so we ventured over there and ended up taking some of my favorite portraits of the day!
Nik and Angela, we are so honored to have been a part of your beautiful day, we had such a blast with you!!
Carley was 4 years with a pinch of sass, v. annoyed to be the flower girl, & stole our hearts completely.
“Doing this for you…”
