We are SO excited to share that Tootie & Kyle’s River View at Occoquan wedding has been featured on Washingtonian Weddings!
My DC photographer heart is particularly excited for their story to be shared because these two poured so much thought and intentional planning into making this a charitable wedding, choosing ethical wedding vendors, ethical wedding favors, eco-friendly wedding bands, and more. It was an HONOR to be a part of such an intentional wedding and such a joy to get to work with these two!!
When I first heard from Tootie, I knew instantly that I wanted to be a part of their day as she shared that she also longs to bring hope to victims of human trafficking, something very near to my heart. Through More Than Lovely, she discovered that we give through our business to A21, and that another local vendor, florist Cedar & Lime Co., gives back to IJM. I was so incredibly excited to be a part of a wedding that would tangibly give back in several ways! Not to mention, Haley from Cedar & Lime Co. happens to be my sister in law, so excitement was obviously high! Tootie & Kyle chose to tie the knot at the River View at Occoquan, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. As a DC wedding photographer, we get to see all kinds of dc wedding venues and virginia wedding venues, but the River View at Occoquan is easily one of my new favorites. I have never before seen an entire wall of windows, and it became our saving grace as the rain caused us to take some portraits inside that afternoon! With the full wall of windows, we were able to take portraits inside without losing clean, natural light for portraits, it was perfect!
These two poured so much thought into the details of their day, from where they bought their invitations (a company who plants a tree for every order made!) to their favors – in lieu of traditional favors, they chose to give one meal for every table at the wedding to a family in need in Guatemala. However, they also planned a few details just for fun, including centerpieces that were living! So creative! Keep scrolling to see Washingtonian’s feature of their day!
Tootie & Kyle, your day was truly beautiful. Not only are you two selfless and serving, you are FUN and clearly have left a lasting impact on your students. We absolutely loved getting to be a part of this with you both!
Everyone in the Ceremony was given a candle, and passed on a flame all the way to Tootie & Kyle, so that their unity candle was lit by a flame from the entire Ceremony. So beautiful!
They had live betta fish centerpieces, with vibrant florals & water plants! Such a fun idea!
