A quieter spring has allowed for more time to catch up on blogging, starting with this gorgeous Union Station engagement session. For couples looking for a classy, but unique D.C. wedding venue, Union Station might be the perfect spot! Ceremonies and receptions are held within the grand trains stations main entry hall, complete with arched cathedral ceilings and dramatic 3 story windows. I’ve always thought a Union Station wedding would be gorgeous, and it makes for a lovely place to take portraits too!
One best kept secret about Union Station is that it’s one of the few locations in D.C. that doesn’t require a permit, so you don’t have to pay a fee to have your portraits taken there! It can be crowded, but if you know when to go, you can take portraits free of crowds. When I met Alicia and Trey for their sunrise session, we had the place entirely to ourselves – even we were a little surprised, thinking surely there would be at least a few walkers! It was perfect!
Alicia and Trey met through her sister’s wedding – Alicia was the maid of honor, Trey was a groomsman! If they only knew that day how things would unfold! They bonded over mutual love for family, traveling, and 90’s music (I see now why I loved my morning with them so much, same priorities over here) and the rest was history. Every year, Alicia’s family spends Christmas brunch at the Fish Market in Old Town, and so it was the perfect time to ask the sweetest question, when the time came. Trey knelt down in front of their entire family, making what was surely the most memorable Christmas of all! It was an absolutely joy to spend the morning with these two, below are a few favorites!
