This morning was such a gift, more than we even realized at the time! We took Catherine and Matt’s Lincoln Memorial engagement photos just days before everything went into lockdown, and I am so thankful now, that we could fit it in before everything unfolded! We met at the base of the Lincoln Memorial, just after sunrise, and the normally crowded steps were serenely quiet, with only a few joggers sharing the view. It’s the most beautiful, and peaceful, time to go! (If you’re planning your DC engagement photos, this is why sunrise is the way to go!)
Catherine shares my love for all things stylish and classy, so the classic monuments made for the perfect location for their session. We clicked from the very first phone call, and have spent the past few months going back and forth talking through the details of their stylish upcoming day, so it was such a treat to finally spend the morning together! It felt like friends finally getting together! Matt is absolutely hilarious, and I drove home knowing their wedding is going to be a blast.
After dating for five years, Matt wanted the proposal to be perfect. When he went to look at rings, he brought Catherine’s daughter with him to help, and she was the one to pick the ring they went home with! Gives so much more meaning to the ring! Though he had a full proposal date planned out, Catherine didn’t suspect anything, and asked if they could just stay home and relax. (This made me laugh, have totally been there!) If she only knew! Matt nixed his original plan and proposed in their home, which proved to be all the sweeter because they could celebrate as a family – and Catherine’s daughter was of course, ecstatic! Enjoy a few favorites from their Lincoln Memorial engagement session!
