They are married!! Becca and John’s Woolen Mill wedding was so fun, I’m so excited to finally share this gorgeous day! Their wedding was the SECOND ever at the Woolen Mill, a brand new sister venue to The Silk Mill, and it was so exciting to be a part of their first wedding weekend ever! It was calling for possible rain, but we didn’t think twice about it, with everything being inside – unlike many DC wedding venues, the Woolen Mill’s indoor ceremony space has plenty of windows and natural light, making it bright, airy, and beautiful for photos. Window light and bright clean walls make ALL the difference! If you’re looking into wedding venues in Fredericksburg, VA, add this one at the top of your list!
Becca and John are as talented as they come, and the day was just a culmination of their creativity! Becca and her mom made paper florals by hand, tying them to every other chair of the ceremony space, and it created a beautiful indoor garden, with vibrant pops of color. It was such a fun, unique way to decorate the space! They also made the cake topper, three sugar peonies, totally by hand as well. For the invitations, Becca deconstructed flowers, styled them, and John printed 3-D letters for their names – you’ll have to scroll to visualize, but it was so creative and fun, I’ve never seen it done before!
They had so many creative details, but by far what I’ll remember most was what happened during the ceremony. Just minutes before it began, the sound stopped working entirely. After trying to fix it it for a few minutes, they finally decided to just go forward, unplugged. The room was quiet as Becca and her father linked arms, but just as they started walking down the aisle, one of the bridesmaids began to hum, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” The rest of the bridesmaids quietly joined, and eventually, the entire room was humming together, creating the most beautiful song as Becca walked down. It was a representation of how loved these two are, with everyone in the room wanting this to be perfect and special for them. I can’t think of a sweeter way to walk down the aisle.
To top it all off, Becca was actually a bridesmaid for one of our past couples (Alexis & Zach!) two years ago, and brought John as her date, so it was SO fun to capture their day this time. Enjoy these favorites of their day!
Becca and John, I couldn’t be more honored to have been a part of your day. It was so fun, so centered around the Lord, and SO creative, encompassing all that you guys are. So much love for you both, cheers to this exciting new season together!
In case you missed it in the beginning – It was at this moment, that the sound began to have issues! After trying to fix it, it was clear that there wouldn’t be any song playing as Becca walked down the aisle. As she and her father started walking, the one bridesmaid spontaneously began to hum, “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Slowly, the whole room began to join in, providing the most beautiful song for Becca to walk down to. The music may not have worked, but Becca got to walk down to a song by every loved one in the room, and it was all the more beautiful!
